A Blog Named Hero: See-Through Elements

Hi crafters!! It’s Linda here, from A Blog Named Hero and I’m excited to be introducing our next challenge to you! This month we want to see you use a:

See-through elements are NOT my usual go-to, but I always love how they look so I knuckled down and tried to get creative!

For my card, I used a piece of acetate as my base, then added a panel over top.

I took some Sand cardstock a stamped the Circle Pattern Bold Prints stamp, and then coloured it in rainbow style using my Polychromos pencils. For some rainbow “segments” I repeated colours, but ensured that circles next to each other didn’t have too many of the same ‘doubled-up’ colours (e.g. two lines of green in adjacent circles)

I then cut that piece into a banner shape. I cut two pieces of Dove White cardstock into banner shapes just 1/8 inch larger than the coloured banner, these would act as a mat for the coloured panel, as well as an area to place inside the card.

I adhered the coloured banner on to the clear panel, before lining up the white one behind it and adhering it to the back of the clear panel (to hide any adhesive!) I then added my second white banner piece to the card base, which was made with a strip of Amethyst cardstock, so that I’d have somewhere nice and white to write my message. I scored a fold line in the top of the card base (the Amethyst one), so that the top panel could attach, and flip open without the acetate panel being damaged by scoring or folding

To finish the card, I die cut the message from Wishes Stamp & Cut using some gold foil cardstock. You could easily die cut this from white cardstock and then heat emboss it using Gold Embossing Powder to get an equally nice effect.

And there you have it!! The colouring was so fun and easy, very meditative!

I hope you’ll join us on A Blog Named Hero this month, as always you have the chance to win one of two gift vouchers from our lovely sponsor, Hero Arts! You have until 5pm on November 10th to enter.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing what you create with a See-Through Element!

Carol Wortman,

For someone who says “not their thing”, this turned out super cute! I can see having a couple of these by the chair or at the dr. office to pass the time. What fun to make the card blank and let the recipient color it. Hmmmm. Thanks for that idea!

Bev Petriski,

My cards just aren’t complete until I add some type of sparkles!!!

Cindy C.,

So beautifully done!

Rachel Groner,

Love the rainbows, such beautiful coloring
