Hi crafty friends! It's Linda from A Blog Named Hero here with you today, and before I introduce our next challenge, I'd like to share a couple of announcements. And now on to our challenge! The challenge theme for you this month is...
A fun and easy way to start off the year, right?! I love a good Anything Goes, it means I can just have fun and craft without boundaries.
For today's card I wanted to create a scene. Boy did this one give me some hurdles to jump over, but I'm so pleased with the result.
I had the idea originally, to create a room scene, and use the Hero Arts Cling background stamps as a wallpaper kind of feature. It's hard to see in the photo, but I used the one called Lantern Pattern Bold Prints, which is no longer available, but many Bold Prints stamps would work! Sugar and Spice Bold Prints would be a nice print for wallpaper, for example.
I stamped the cling stamp onto some Pebble Hero Hues Cardstock, using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink, to create a tone on tone effect.
I then stamped my images from Curious Cat and Hang In There Potted Plants with Intens-ified Black Ink and coloured them in with Copic markers. Rather than list them here (there are lots!) I took a photo of the colours I used.
I then fussy cut each of the images out and set them aside.
I wanted to create a table or similar, for the images to sit on, but realised I didn't have any stamps that would work, so I set about making my own wooden floor.
I coloured some white Copic-friendly cardstock using four Copic colours; E02, E35, E55, E57 which I swiped back and forth VERY lightly using the chisel nib, then a tiny swipe of W4 over the top to smooth everything out. I added some tiny knot details to make it look more like wood.
Next I cut the panel into strips, and adhered it down to a piece of typing paper, to create a wood floor look, I trimmed the ends and filled in any gaps.
I then wanted to create a skirting board (or baseboard) which I did with a tiny strip of white cardstock, and two very light grey Copic markers.
To complete the card, I pieced everything together, then ran it though my die-cutting machine, with a die from the Hero Arts Nesting Postage Stamp Infinity Dies set. I added a sentiment from the same potted plant set, because it made me laugh to think of the kitty being all innocent "Let's hang out?!" (before I eat you! ha!)
I mounted this panel onto some white cardstock, and then added that to a cardbase that I had coloured the edges of, in coordinating Copic colours (G21 & G24).
I hope you like it! I love how it turned out and despite the work it took, I'd definitely make it again!
