Mother's Day is right around the corner, and if you are like me, you have more than one person to celebrate!
Today, I am sharing a video tutorial on how I loosely watercolored our Flowering Nasturtium and Old World Courtyard die cut to create a card that expresses just how much they are appreciated.

I am obsessed with Smooth Bristol paper. It is so easy and so many techniques lend themselves to its coated surface. As long as you don't scrub it, it's pretty fail safe.
After white detail heat embossing the flowers onto Bristol paper, I began watercoloring them with Mulled Wine Liquid Watercolor . I painted it into the areas that would be shadowed, like the base of the petals and where one petal tucks behind another. I followed with Strawberry in the same manner, just extending the color out into the petal a smidge further. I then added Dandelion to the outer edge and blended the colors slightly with clean clear water.
Repeat the same steps with the leaves beginning with a dark teal created with Moss and Indigo . Follow with Moss alone and then water to blend. Add a second, and even third layer of color until the desired level of richness is achieved.
Creating the color for the Old World Courtyard die is quick and fun. Liberally wet a panel of Bristol paper that is slightly larger than the die itself. Touch a Dandelion loaded paint brush to the wet paper and watch it bloom. Add a touch of Strawberry here and there, and then additional water to allow the colors to meld together. Allow to dry naturally or use a heat tool .
Once dry, run yellow paper through a Minc machine or laminator to iron flat. Then die cut Old World Courtyard and Flowering Nasturtium. Tuck the Nasturtium into the columns and add foam dots to what will be the right side of the flowers when they are face up. Apply liquid glue to the back by dabbing with a triangle makeup sponge. Adhere to a Snow Folded Card that has been ink blended on the corners with Soft Pool Shadow ink.
Heat emboss the " You Are Appreciated " sentiment in white detail embossing powder on black.
