Seaside Highway Getaway

Hey everybody! It's Maria here and I hope you're all doing well. I am so excited about the entire August release because it is a theme that is hitting me in my adventure-loving heart. Recently, my husband and I have been trying to get out of the house more often to enjoy this beautiful place we live in (California). Last month we drove up the California coast and we had hours of stunning views just like the one in this new Seaside Highway HeroScape. I loved making this card because it kept me thinking of the fun we'd had on our adventure.

I decided to do a daytime scene with a vibrant sky but it would be so easy to create nighttime scenes, aurora borealis, tropical vibes, etc... I started with a piece of white cardstock and started stamping my layers using my MISTI. My first layer of grassy hillside (larger stamp) was stamped in Green Apple. The more detailed grass layer was stamped in Bermuda. I used Granite for the road. For the water I used Mist (large stamp) and Summer Sky (detailed stamp). My stamping was a teensy bit off so I took that as an opportunity to grab a tan colored marker and fill the narrow white gaps between the water and coast with sand. The beaches that I added look like they were meant to be there!

Next, I masked off my freshly stamped coastal scene using Post-it tape so that I could ink blend the sky. I used Taffy and Lemon Drop Reactive Inks and blended them together in the middle to create an orange color. Once that was dry I added the tree, car and sentiment using Onyx pigment ink. I used clear embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment (but not the tree or car).

I felt like the background needed just a little bit more magic so I masked the bottom off again and splattered the top with White Glimmer Metallic Ink. I trimmed just a sliver off of the sides of my stamped piece and added it to a Pitch Black mat to finish my card off.

Now, I mentioned above that you could create a variety of different scenes using just this Seaside Highway HeroScape but if you decide to combine it with some of our other HeroScapes the scene building possibilities become endless. For example, I was really tempted to add in a hang glider and some birds from the Beach HeroScape. I also had the thought to pair it with the Jungle Frame Fancy Die and give it a tropical vibe. Make sure to check your stash or the shop to maximize your creativity!

I hope you all have an amazing day today! Happy crafting!
