February My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway

MMH Countdown to Creativity

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the February My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, February 6 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We’ll be here for the next three days, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will be available on Monday. And, remember to comment on each and every post as we’ll be giving away a kit on Monday morning, before the kit launches! Now join Yana as she shares a first glimpse at this beautiful kit…

My Monthly Hero February kit is ideal for creating simple encouraging cards. The messages included with the stamp sets in the kit as well as the add-ons are uplifting and hopeful and are sure to cheer anyone up.

Teal Rainbows Card by Yana Smakula for Hero Arts

I started working on my card by creating a sky background. I used negative clouds from the stencil included in the kit along with a Mint Julep ink and a sponge and blended a beautiful summer sky filled with light and fluffy clouds.

Next I stamped and die-cut 3 houses and a rainbow image and colored those using alcohol markers (I used Intense Black ink for my stamping as it’s an alcohol marker friendly ink). I decided not to use traditional rainbow colors for the rainbow, but to try something different – ombre teal!

I stamped a sentiment that reads “Without Clouds There’d Be No Rainbows” and adhered my clouds panel onto an A2 top folding card base made out of Snow Layering Paper. I foam mounted the houses and the rainbow and stamped a little smoke coming out of one of the chimneys to balance out the rainbow and complete my card.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, February 6th, before the kit launches at 1pm EST. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Have fun stamping!
