Digital Petals for the Win!

Today we're happy to have a special guest return to the blog – Essie! She is sharing some great cards using new digital products from our April release. Take it away, Essie!

Good morning, friends! Essie here to show off the new Patterned Petals Digital Kit that is part of the April monthly release from Hero Arts. Patterned Petals is one of three separate digital releases this month, and I’m adding them ALL to my digital library!

The kit includes four different digital blooms, each available as an outline (that you can color yourself) and also with the blooms patterned and colored in elegant violet and beige.

I decided to arrange the colored images to create a full card background front with overlapping blooms. I used Google Docs (well, Google slide layout) and eureka! It was so easy that I created two large cards! First, a slimline Father’s Day card using those elegant violet and beige patterned flowers. Then I re-colored the images in the Google Presentation app, and made what I am calling a "delft blue" colorway for an A7 Mother’s Day card. Here’s a look at that delft blue background printed on plain copy paper, isn't it lovely?

Details: My Father’s Day card has the Happy Father’s Day Fancy Die centered on the slimline panel and a few gold baubles from my stash – all matted in white on a Sand Cardstock base – super simple! My Mother’s Day card adds some shine with an oval frame in silver cardstock created from the Nesting Oval Infinity Dies and the new Delicate Butterflies Fancy Die. “Mom, You’re Amazing” is created with the Amazing Fancy Die and the Thank You For Everything sentiment set. I added the small butterfly die cut and a few iridescent baubles. I always love that extra shine!

And there you have it – two easy cards with just a little arranging of flowers on a Google Doc (Microsoft Office or Adobe would work equally well), printed onto plain old copy paper, and die cut sentiments from my stash in metallic cardstock and – bang! - Father’s Day and Mother’s Day cards are (as my Aussie friend Michelle would say) “done and dusted.”

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll give these digital images some love – they are addictively easy to create with.

Thanks for all the great inspiration, Essie!
