Color Layering Water Lilies

I have always found water lilies magical in a way. I find them very calming and just beautiful to look at. The new Color Layering Water Lilies stamp set is so beautiful and I really enjoyed using it for my card today.

I first took a piece of watercolour paper and added some colour to it using the new Daniel Smith Watercolour Dot Palette. I used a combination of Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue and Ultramarine Turquoise. I set the panel aside to dry and worked on my water lily.

There are now ink pad sets to combine with the Color Layering stamp sets but I wanted to try a different colour combination for my card today. I first stamped the bottom layer of the flower using Soft Vanilla Shadow Ink, the second layer was stamped with Soft Apricot Shadow Ink and then the top layer uses Orange Soda Mid-Tone Shadow Ink. For the centre portion I used Butter Bar Mid-Tone Shadow Ink. I used two layers for the lily pads, the first in Green Hills Mid-Tone Shadow Ink and the second with Field Greens Mid-Tone Shadow Ink. The flower and lily pads were cut out using the coordinating dies.

I took the watercolour piece and added this to an A2 card base made with Snow Layering Paper. The sentiment, from the Many Everyday Messages set was stamped on to the card using Intense Black Ink. The water lily pieces were added to the card with tape runner and foam tape. To finish the card off, I added a few Clear Gemstones.
