Thoughtful Expressions Inspiration | Watercolour Blessings Card with Erum
Apr 26, 2018
Hello everyone! This is Erum Tasneem here and I am excited to be back at the Spellbinders blog. Today I have a messy watercolour card to share with you. My card features the gorgeous Blessings Vine Frame by Marisa Job. This is from Marisa’s Thoughtful Expressions Collection.
I started by die cutting the frame on ivory cardstock. Next I used Gansai Tambi watercolours to add colour to the die cut. I did not watercolour this piece carefully, in fact I just had fun and was super carefree while adding colour.
I used a couple of shades of brown for the “wood” part. You can also colour this green or the leaves green. I chose to go with browns and yellows because I LOVE the colours of Autumn.
For the leaves I used a bright yellow colour on the tip and orange on the other end. To mix these two, I used a warmer yellow colour. In some places I dropped in a bit of red colour too for interest.
After the watercolour was dry, I added a light wash of fawn colour on a piece of cardstock to adhere the die cut frame on.
Next, I die cut the word “Blessings” in gold and heat embossed my sentiment. For the “Blessings” die cut, I cut out several pieces to form a stacked die like homemade chipboard if you will. This I glued directly on to the card front. For the black strip I used foam tape to adhere it.
In the end I added a few gold and black paint splatters and popped the card front onto the card base with foam tape.
