SPOILERS! 12 Days of Stitchmas 2025 Advent Calendar – Day 1 with Kim Kesti
Welcome to day 1 of our 12 Days of Stitchmas 2025 Advent Calendar class! Join us and stitch your way through the season! We invited 12 guest artists to share inspiration with the 12 stitching surprises. Let’s welcome Kim Kesti as she shares inspiration with the Day 1 surprise!
Hi Crafty Friends! Kim Kesti here to kick off the 12 Days of Stitchmas! I am lucky enough to be hosting Day One from the
Stitchmas Advent Calendar
,
which is an adorable ornament along with a cute little “Noel” sentiment. I can imagine so many ways to use this die set!
For my first card, I created a “step and repeat” pattern. But not just any step and repeat! I used the amazing
Treasured Cardstock
pack (the Silver Assortment) to cut my ornament backgrounds. With five different metallic finishes, the sky is the limit! I was channeling this inspirational photo of vintage ornaments:
I love how many different silver finishes pop up in this photo. After choosing three metallics, I backed the ornaments with cardstock colors also chosen from my inspiration photo: pinks, red, yellow, and blue. It’s definitely giving retro vibes! Die-cutting the stitched inserts was easy; I just cut them in the same colors to mix and match. Sitting down and stitching the inserts was my favorite part. I used silver metallic thread and topped each insert off with a small
Fashion Silver
dot, so cute!
To finish the card, I cut solid ornaments and repeated the pattern to create an entire background. And it’s easier than it looks! Be sure to check out my video for step-by-step instructions.
For my bonus card, I created a single ornament using a white and silver color scheme. Then, I brought in a few other colors from my first card for accents. I used the
Gifting Bow
Die Set for the darling bow and florals surrounding my ornament. Then, I couldn’t resist the classic Comfort and Joy Glimmer Plates for the perfect finishing sentiment (foiled in Silver Foil, of course).
