Sharyn Sowell Holiday 2019 Inspiration | Holiday Cards with Kelly

Hello, friends, it’s Kelly Lunceford here today and I’m so thrilled to be here sharing 3 projects with you using the new Sharyn Sowell Holiday 2019 dies! These dies are so perfect to create Holiday and Winter cards alike! I know I will be reaching for these again and again for tags, cards, and 3D projects all season long! My first project features the new Starry Forrest Dies.

To begin these 2 designs, I cut a2 pieces of white cardstock to 4 by 5 ¼ inches and blended some blue ink around the edges using a blender brush. I kept it heavy around three of the edges since I was trying to achieve the look of a winter’s night sky. I knew that one of my cards would be horizontal and the other one vertical so I kept that in mind when I was doing the blending.

Once that was done, I spritzed the panels with Shimmer Spray and set them aside to dry. In the meantime, I got to work die cutting the trees, rabbits, elk/deer/moose image out of black cardstock. I die cut each one 3 times and glued them together with liquid glue. I like to create pieces that are about chipboard weight and I have found that 3 or 4 layers provides the result I am looking for.

I stamped the sentiments in black ink multiple times to get a solid result. I was stamping over Shimmer Spray AND oxide ink so it required multiple layers. At this point, I was able to add the die cut shapes using foam squares. The finishing touch was to add a few sparkling gems here and there to help reinforce the starry sky. I added each panel to a standard A2 cardbase using foam squares for added dimension. My second project, which is probably my favorite, uses the new Winter Friends Dies paired with the new Peace on Earth Dies.

To begin this card, I blended some ink around the entire perimeter of a 4 by 5 ¼ inch panel of white cardstock, leaving the center white. Once that was done, I used the Peace on Earth Die with an embossing mat rather than the cutting plates so that I would get a dry embossed image. Once that was done, I used the portion of the die that cuts out the center of the heart. I stamped the bottom sentiment in black directly in the center under the heart.

This set the stage for me to begin adding in the die cut shapes which were prepared in the same way as on my first card. I added them to the design using strategically placed foam squares so that I would avoid the negative space from the center of the heart.

The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is heat embossed in white onto a red strip of cardstock and adhered to the card using foam squares.  A few sparkling clear sequins finish off this design! I added it to a standard A2 card base using foam squares for extra dimension. My 3rd and final project for today uses the new Love Came Down Dies. I was so excited to add some color to this beautiful die cut piece using a blending brush and ink.

I die cut the piece twice and glued it together using liquid glue. I added the different colors of ink to bring this die to life.

I sponged some green ink around a piece of green cardstock measuring 4 by 5 ¼ inches wide. Once that was done, I added the die cut piece using foam squares. I spritzed it with Shimmer Spray making sure to shake it well to avoid getting any unfortunate blobs! I added some sparkling clear sequins here and there to give the project some added shine and dimension.
