Seasonal Slimline Birdhouses by Jean Manis
Hello crafty friends! It’s Jean here sharing three slimline cards showcasing the Birdhouses Through the Seasons Collection by Vicky Papaioannou. This whimsical and unique collection includes five die sets and a sentiment stamp set with which to create bird and/or birdhouse-themed cards. Let’s take a look at different ways to use the products, no matter what the season!
Add sparkle to a summer-themed card with glitter
Create background: Create sky background by blending Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink on Snowdrift cardstock panel cut to 3 ½" x 8 ½". Stamp Tweet Sentiments sentiment in black ink.
Create foreground: For sand, apply clear glitter to Portobello cardstock with spray adhesive. For ocean, apply Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink to Snowdrift cardstock. Trim sand and ocean and add to stamped card panel.
Create birdhouse: Cut the Build a Summer Birdhouse lighthouse from Snowdrift To create stripes, add double-sided tape and apply red microfine glitter. Cut lighthouse top from card stock to which double-sided adhesive has been applied, apply red glitter, and fussy cut. Cut lighthouse doors from cardstock to which double-sided adhesive has been applied, apply blue glitter, and fussy cut. Cut lighthouse light from silver foil. Add top and doors to lighthouse, add yellow cardstock to back, after adding the lighthouse light to the top. Cut life ring from Snowdrift cardstock, apply red microfine glitter with glue. Once dry, add to doors. Cut post with the Build a Summer Birdhouseset from brown cardstock and assemble.
Birds/Embellishments: Cut fence (twice) from Snowdrift cardstock with die in the Build a Spring Birdhouse Cut Sweet Birds on a Branch bird from red and Onyx (legs) cardstock, assemble and add Onyx to back for the bird’s eye. Cut seagulls from Snowdrift cardstock and add to sky; cut shells from cardstock to which white microfine glitter has been applied; cut starfish from card stock to which copper microfine glitter has been applied.
Show your thanks with a fall-themed card incorporating mixed-media elements
Create background: Create sky background by blending Broken China Distress Oxide ink on Snowdrift cardstock panel cut to 3 ½" x 8 ½". Stamp Tweet Sentiments sentiment in black ink.
Create foreground: Blend Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink on Snowdrift Trim top with grass die in the Besties Forever set and add to the stamped panel.
Create birdhouse: Cut the Build a Fall Birdhouse house from orange cardstock with the hole die from the Build a SpringBirdhouse in place. Die cut birdhouse again from dark brown cardstock; fussy-cut roof and glue to birdhouse. Back with same dark brown cardstock. Cut shutters from watercolor paper to which watercolors have been applied and glue to top window. Cut post with the Build a Summer Birdhouse set from brown cardstock and assemble.
Birds/Embellishments: Cut fence from Snowdrift cardstock with die in the Build a Spring BirdhouseCut Sweet Birds on a Branch bird from watercolor paper, to which watercolors have been applied, and Onyx (legs) cardstock; add Onyxto back for the bird’s eye. Cut leaves from cardstock to which Distress Oxide inks have been applied. Cut small leaves with dies in the Sweet Birds on a Branch set. Cut white flowers from Snowdrift cardstock; cut centers from watercolor paper, to which watercolors have been applied. Cut small flowers and centers from watercolor paper, to which watercolors have been applied, using die in the Build a Spring Birdhouseset.
Add elements to scene.

Celebrate the winter holidays with a snowy birdhouse scene
Create background: Create sky background by blending Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink onSnowdrift cardstock panel cut to 3 ½" x 8 ½". Stamp Tweet Sentiments sentiment in black ink.
Create foreground: With a die in the April 2020 Large Die of the Month set, cut snowbank from Snowdrift cardstock to which clear glitter has been applied with double-sided adhesive; trim and add to the stamped panel.
Create birdhouse: Cut Build a Winter Birdhouse house from pink cardstock, applying Distress Oxide ink to edges. Cut birdhouse again from gray cardstock; fussy-cut roof and adhere to birdhouse. Trim gray cardstock for back of birdhouse, however, don’t add to back until bird is cut and assembled (see next section). Cut snow edges for roof from Snowdrift cardstock to which clear glitter has been applied with double-sided adhesive. Use the Build a Winter Birdhouse branch to cut the snow for the top of the post from Snowdrift cardstock, to which clear glitter has been applied with double-sided adhesive, and trim. Cut post with the Build a Summer Birdhouse set from brown cardstock and assemble with snow.
Birds/Embellishments: Cut fence (twice) from Snowdrift cardstock with die in the Build a Spring Birdhouse Cut Sweet Birds on a Branch bird from red and Onyx (legs) cardstock, assemble and add Onyx to back for the bird’s eye. Cut Sweet Birds on a Branch bird from yellow, adding Onyx to back for the bird’s eye and orange for the nose. Cut poinsettia from cardstock which has been heat-embossed with red embossing powder. Cut leaves (green) and flower center (yellow) and add to poinsettia. Use flower center die to cut snow from Snowdrift cardstock to which clear glitter has been applied with double-sided adhesive. Add yellow bird to back of birdhouse and adhere back.
Add elements to scene.
