Creating Cards with Texture and Dimension

Hi there, crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel, and I love finding easy ways to add texture and dimension to cards because those elements add loads of interest. Using the new Texture & Foliage Collection from Suzanne Hue makes it easy to add texture and dimension to foliage-focused cards. The Autumn Greetings Wreath Etched Dies has everything you need to create a fall wreath with branches, leaves, pumpkins, and gourds. To create a very textured background, emboss an A2 piece of Cinnamon Cardstock with the Dimpled 3D Embossing Folder. It’s a bit easier to adhere the bits and pieces of the wreath to a flat piece of cardstock so trim down a smaller piece of Terra Cotta Cardstock on top of the embossed panel. To create a bunch of dimension with the parts of the wreath, cut each piece out twice and adhere them together. This gives even the thin branches dimension without the need to use dimensional adhesive. To add more interest to the leaves, pumpkins, and gourds, brush the edges with coordinating colors of ink. This die set also includes an Autumn Greetings sentiment. Moving onto the Seasonal Wreath Foliage Etched Dies. This set includes several pieces of foliage perfect for creating a Christmas wreath, berries, and a Merry Christmas sentiment. The fun thing about this foliage is that you don’t have to use it as a wreath. You can create foliage sprays or swag. Double up these die cuts as well to add dimension without trying to hide foam adhesive behind the thin foliage. The dies also have embossed elements on them that add to the look of dimension. The shadow dies for the sentiments can be cut from Gold Mirror Metallic Cardstock to give you space to pop up the sentiment.  Add some Fashion Bella Color Essentials Pearl Dots for additional shiny dimension. The Seasonal Wreath Foliage Etched Dies can also be used to create a birthday wreath. Using the foliage dies, cut them out of bright cardstock colors. A rainbow of foliage pieces can be adhered to the background embossed by the Linen 3D Embossing Folder. Instead of creating thicker die cuts by adhering two together, try cutting out multiple pieces and layering them slightly off center on top of each other. Use the Birthday Wishes Sentiments BetterPress Plates and Die Set from the Texture & Foliage Collection in the Glimmer Machine with Gold Foil. The foiled and die-cut sentiment can then be popped up on small foam squares. Add additional dimension and some shine with the Aura AB Essential Gems.
