Good morning! Jess here to share an interactive slider card using the new Paper Layering Koi, the watercolor dot palette, and the Nesting Circle Infinity dies!
I made a video tutorial showing how I created this card. If you’re having a problem viewing the video, please try watching it HERE on our YouTube channel!
To start I die-cut the Paper Layering Koi from watercolor paper. Then I used a damp paintbrush to pull paint from the dot palette and watercolored the koi. The colors are gorgeous and they blend beautifully! Once it dried completely I popped up the scales and lightly curled the fins and tail of the fish for a little extra dimension.
Next I worked on the background. I smooshed Salty Ocean Distress ink onto a craft mat and painted a soft wash of blue across a piece of watercolor paper. I used clean water to blend out and soften the edges and then painted thin lines using the edge of a barely damp paintbrush to create ripples in the water. I added splatters of water and metallic gold paint to create bubbles in the water and then let it dry completely. Once it dried I stamped the sentiment from Color Layering Koi with Versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder.
Then it was time to create my interactive element! I created sliders by die-cutting the 2nd smallest circles 4 times from the Nesting Circle Infinity dies and adhered them together with foam mounting dots. I used the 4th and 6th largest circle dies to cut a circle from the background panel and then adhered that circle to a piece of white cardstock cut slightly smaller than a standard A2 (4.25″x5.5″) panel. Next I used a double layer of foam mounting tape to attach the inside of the circle and the outer frame to the white cardstock. I added a little adhesive to the top of each slider and then tucked them into the track created by the circle frame. Finally I adhered my koi to the top of the slider dots and adhered the panel to a standard A2 card base. It might be a little confusing to follow the directions so hopefully the video will be more helpful!
Thanks so much for visiting today and I hope you have a fabulous day! Happy crafting! :)
