January My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + Giveaway

January My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + Giveaway

It's time for our next countdown peek! The January My Monthly Hero kit will be available on Monday, January 6 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Emily, who is sharing some more inspiration using this month's kit!

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today as we kick off 2020 with our My Monthly Hero countdown! This month's kit features some absolutely beautiful and highly detailed dies combined with a fantastic all-purpose sentiment stamp set. I've paired the new Aqua Glimmer Metallic Ink included in the kit with some Rose Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink to create an almost desert-like ombre for the background, along with some of those beautifully intricate die cuts from the main kit. Let's get started with the details!

I began by taping down a panel of Handmade Watercolor Paper to a cutting board, then used the new Aqua Glimmer Metallic Ink and Rose Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink to create a pretty ombre background. I have found these colors to move particularly beautifully when applied to a wet surface, so I thoroughly wet my cardstock before adding any color. I then moved the color with a clean, wet paintbrush to achieve the pretty metallic background.

While my background was drying, I die cut the envelope included in the main kit from some heavyweight vellum cardstock. I then folded it and adhered the flaps using tiny dots of Precision Glue. I die cut several flowers and foliage, as well, using Dove White and Paradise cardstocks, arranging them in a pretty bouquet inside the vellum envelope.

Next, I die cut a banner from some more Dove White cardstock and heat embossed a greeting from the stamp set included in the main kit using Copper embossing powder. I adhered the banner and floral-filled envelope to the metallic ombre background using foam adhesive. The final step was to add a sparkling butterfly that I'd die cut from vellum and covered in Sparkle embossing powder.

Well, that's all for my project today! This kit is a beauty, and super unique with these beautiful floral die cuts, so don't miss the rest of the Creative Team's countdown posts. So many fun techniques that you can do with them!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, January 6, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Beautiful card! Love your colors. Love that the dies have enough detail to stand on their own without coloring every time

Loved that you made the envelope out of vellum so it wasn’t a stark white.

Hi Emily! What a gorgeous card! Wow this kit seems to have everything. The metallic glimmer inks are so pretty and are a nice backdrop to the beautiful die cut flowers. I can’t wait to see the whole kit! What a great way for HA to start a new year!

Beautiful card, and Oooooo I love that Paradise card stock. I like that you left your flowers white so we can see the detail of the dies.
