Hi friends! Today we are here with an installment of our monthly series, CommUNITY, where we share artwork from artists who we'd love for you to get to know. CommUNITY is about embracing and honoring the creativity of individuals who are often underrepresented. My name is Donna Idlet and I live in Northern Virginia about 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. I am a wife, a mother of two adult children and a mema of three grandchildren. I have always loved crafting and I inherited that trait honestly because my mother was a crafter and a quilter. I have been making cards for over 20 years. I love, love, love making cards, altered art, and photography. I also love Scrapbooking--traditional and digital.
My first love is coloring with Copics, but have experience with other mediums. My style of cardmaking varies but I like clean lines, coloring, layering and elegance. I love learning new techniques and playing with all sorts of stamps, digital images, dies and papers.
My first card is an A2 card measuring 4 1/4 x 5 12. I stamped the top layer with the Love is Love Bold Prints stamp with Embossing & Watermark Ink and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder. I die cut the two layers with Rectangle Infinity Dies and adhered them to the card base. I then die cut the Hands of Hope Fancy Die with white heavy cardstock, colored the hands in skin tone colors with Copics. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Kids United stamp set in White Embossing Powder. I added this to the card with foam tape.
My second card is an A2 card measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I die cut the Nature Border Fancy Die with Frame with heavy black cardstock, cut a white piece of cardstock measuring 4 x 5 1/4 and ink blended the background with blue ink using Hero Arts ink blending brushes. I adhered the Nature Border Frame and the background piece together and adhered it to the base of the card. I then stamped the image from the Kids United set, colored with Copics, cut out the image and adhered it to my card. Finally I finished the card off by adding the sentiment from the Kids United set.
