A Wrinkle in Time: Small Details = Big Results

Did you read the book A Wrinkle in Time? It was in my head the whole time I was creating this card.

When I first started stamping, long before ink blending brushes, the torn edge technique was very popular and is still one of my favorite techniques. Especially for this month's super fun space theme, I thought the idea of a rip in the universe that gives you a peek into another world was the perfect inspiration for my card design today.

To create this, I tore two sections of masking paper to get my edges. The masking paper I use is actually repositionable label paper from Avery. I find the tack is strong enough to stand up to ink blending, but not so strong your paper is in peril!

I positioned these two pieces a few inches apart and blended the entire thing first with Key Lime Fizz Reactive Ink and a blending brush to create the glow. This is one of my favorite inks to blend with. The color just glows. Next, I added a little bit of Green Apple Reactive Ink, bringing the stamp set over every now and then to match the shape of the little galaxy from the Orbit stamp set so that it looked like that's where the light was coming from. Finally, just at the edges, I added a teeny bit of Nautical ink at the edges for drama.

I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from Orbit, and added the green sequins to form a focal point.

You'll notice I did add just a few white details with a gel pen.

This is a very fun and easy way to create a colorful pop on a clean and simple card – I hope you enjoy it!
