Watercolor Magical Forest

Hey everyone. It's Dana here with you today sharing some watercolor inspiration. I haven't played with my Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors recently so it was a great opportunity to break them out and get creative.

To create my card I pulled out a piece of watercolor paper and stamped the image from the new Magical Forest stamp set in Intense Black Ink. Before the ink could dry I sprinkled on Clear Embossing Powder and heat set the image. This would allow me to keep crisp lines for my image.

Next I placed a few drops of Strawberry, Moss, Dark Teal, Cocoa and Pine liquid watercolors on my glass mat and started watercoloring the main image. I diluted some of the colors with White liquid watercolor to take some of the intensity out of the color. Once I had one layer of color down I heat set my image again to dry the color.

Now it was time to add in some depth. I added a second layer of watercolor to deepen up some of the greenery. I dabbed the watercolor on this time with a fine tip paint brush to create some movement in the grassy area. Once again I heat set my image.

To create my sky, I laid down just plain water onto the paper first. Switching to a larger paint brush, I started with Dandelion liquid watercolor and brushed on the color close to the image. Next I came in with Strawberry liquid watercolor making sure to blend it with the yellow. The last color was Dark Teal liquid watercolor. I worked that color into the strawberry watercolor to form the gradient. This is a super easy way to create a beautiful sky.

Once the panel was dry, I trimmed it down, spritzed on White Iridescent Shimmer Mist and adhered it to Pitch Black cardstock. I stamped one of the sentiments from the stamp set in Clear Embossing ink and heat set it with Detail White Embossing Powder. A few Green Enamel Dots added just a little color to the black area. This panel was then adhered to a Dove White Top Folded Card

Such a beautiful little scene card for someone's special birthday. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have a wonderful day and we will see you back here soon.
