There’s nothing quite like two for one. Two candy bars for the price of one, two donuts for the price of one, two…sorry, I really like my sugar. ;) I also like getting two cards for the effort of one!
The “star” (ha, couldn’t help myself) of today’s card set is the Star Confetti Fancy Die. To start the set off, I die cut the background on some white cardstock, and then poked all the little stars out. You could save these stars and use them for confetti, elements for a shaker card, or just as accents.
For my purposes, I just need the background, and once I had that, I added a little bit of adhesive to each corner, and then temporarily adhered on the center of a piece of vellum I had cut to 4.25×6. I used some washi tape to mask off the top and bottom of the vellum that wasn’t covered by the die cut panel.
The panel was then blended using Fresh Peach, Ultra Pink, Grape Juice and Navy. I usually start by doing my lightest colors first, and then working my way to the darkest. I also overcompensate on the light colors, adding more to the panel than I know will actually be seen later, so that the darker colors will blend better.
Once I had blended my background, I flicked some Unicorn White spray ink on the panel, and heat set it. After everything was dry, I covered the panel with Versamark. If your panel is completely dry, you don’t have to worry about muddying up your Versamark pad, but I have an already grungy Versamark pad for projects like these, just in case. ;)
With the background covered in Versamark, I removed it from the vellum, and oila! Two gorgeous backgrounds in one fell stroke! I then covered both with some Sparkle embossing powder, because, you know, stars should be sparkly. ;) The clear embossing also helps the colors really pop!
After heat setting the two, the rest of the cards were pretty simple. I cut my cardstock panel down for the first card, using a white heat embossed Thanks Stamp & Cut sentiment.
For the vellum card, I used the overhanging parts of the panel that weren’t inked to add adhesive and then use as flaps to adhere on inside of the card. Topped the second card off with a similar sentiment, Happy Stamp & Cut.
Depending on the style of your die, you could use different colors and different sentiments. If you made a whole slew of generic card backgrounds, it would be easy to stamp and adhere a sentiment for whatever occasion arises!
