Video: Combining Cover Plates, Coordinating Dies and Stencils featuring the April My Monthly Hero Kit

Hello friends!! It’s Channin here and today I’m creating this vibrant card by combining the cover plate die, coordinating dies and color layering stencils from the Classic and Premium April My Monthly Hero Kits. In the video I also demonstrate how I like to add interest to my stenciled images with markers and gel pens.

To create this card I first die cut an A2 panel (4 1/4” x 5 1/2”) of Adriatic cardstock with the cover plate die from the Classic and Premium April My Monthly Hero Kits. I then ink-blended over the panel with the Color Layering Floral Butterfly Stencils ( Classic & Premium ). I started with stencil 1 and ink-blended lightly over the panel with Deep Ocean . I then positioned stencil 2 over the panel and ink-blended more heavily with Deep Ocean . Lastly, I finished with stencil 3 and ink-blended with Nautical and adhered the panel onto the front of an A2 top-folding Dove White card base .

Next, I die cut all the butterfly and flower dies from the coordinating Fancy Die set ( Classic & Premium ) out of Dove White cardstock. I then divided the butterflies and flowers die-cuts into three groups and positioned one of the groupings under stencil 1 and ink-blended lightly with Tangerine Core Ink. Then I positioned stencil 2 over the die-cuts and ink-blended a little bit more heavily with Tangerine . I then finished the die-cuts with stencil 3 and a very heavy-handed ink-blending of Tangerine .

Next, I repeated this process for my other two groupings of die-cuts with Spicy Mustard Core Ink for one grouping and Grape Juice Core Ink for the other. I then cut off the leaves for some of the flowers and added details to all the die-cuts with a black Copic multi-liner and a white gel pen. When I finished embellishing the die-cuts I adhered them to the card front, being careful to only add Precision Glue to the bodies of the butterflies and to the bottom of the flowers so I could pop up the die-cuts for a bit of dimension. 

Next, I stamped a sentiment from the clear message stamp set ( Classic & Premium ) in Nautical onto a scrap of Adriatic cardstock. I then fussy cut the sentiment out and finished the card by adhering the sentiment to the card front with foam adhesive.
