Hello there, Michelle here and today I have a card and video exploring if mixed media can be clean and simple. My answer? Yes, it can! Mixed media is about mixing different mediums and textures and I have done that on the honeycomb, but the card in itself, still reads as clean and simple.
I used the new Tiling Textures stamp set to create the honeycomb background for my bee to hang out on. I then added interest and layers with inks and wax. You can see how I made the card in the video here:

Using the Compact Cutter , I die cut three Hexagon Infinity Dies from Canary cardstock. I then stamped the honeycomb stamp from the Tiling Textures set on top using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink . I applied Gold Embossing Powder and heat set.
Using Large Ink Blending Brushes , I first blended on Lemon Drop Reactive Ink, followed by Pumpkin Pie Mid-tone Shadow Ink. I took the new Gold Hero Wax and with my finger, rubbed it on to the honeycomb pieces, focusing it mainly on the edges. Once it catches the light, it is so pretty!
I wanted to add some splatter too, so I mixed a little of the wax with water from a Water Mist Bottle and splattered it on with a paintbrush, before setting it aside to dry. Once dry, I layered the pieces on top of two more layers cut from Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock . I stamped the bee from Sweet As Honey on to the same cardstock using Intens-ified Black ink.
I coloured it with Copic Markers before die cutting out with the Sweet As Honey Frame Cuts . I also stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Art Journal Messages on to Pitch Black cardstock with White Detail Embossing Powder . The pieces were then adhered to an A2 white card base using Precision Glue for the honeycomb, and thin foam tape for the bee and sentiment. To finish off, I embellished with a few Neutrals Hero Hues Enamel Dots (black).
