October My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway

October My Monthly Hero Kit from Hero Arts will have you dreaming about snowy Winter evenings, cozy Christmas and those precious snow globes with little bits snow inside! It is the perfect kit to create interactive shaker cards, snow globe shaped cards and tags and more! Here’s the first card I wanted to share:

I couldn’t resist creating a snow globe shaker! I decided to go with a traditional Christmas color scheme and picked olive-green, red and white.

First I die cut the snow globe image in a panel of olive-green cardstock, adhered a sheet of acetate, added foam adhesive walls and filled shaker area with Buttons Galore Shaker Mix (you’ll get both acetate sheets and shaker mix in this kit).  This shaker panel was foam mounted onto an A2 top folding card base.

I didn’t add any of the stamped and die cut pieces inside the snow globe, but rather adhered them over the acetate layer on the front of the card. I stamped Christmas tree using Lime to Forever Green Ombré ink, two more ombré pads, Soft Brown to Cup O’ Joe and Light to Red Royal were used to stamp the lamp post and Santa and his sleight.

I also used Soft Brown ink to stamp the deer, Forever Green to stamp the tree line and finally Silver to stamp the little snowman.

My sentiment was heat embossed using white embossing powder and I intentionally went for an old distressed-type look. As a one final touch I added a snipped of red and white bakers twine and tied it around the lamp post for another pop of red.

My second card is very similar to the first one but is much a simpler window project. The snow globe opening was cut out in the front panel of my card base and all of the snow globe contents – hills, Christmas tree, tree line, bench etc, were adhered on the inside of the card.

I used silver glitter paper to die cut snow hills and I love how it added a lot of shimmer to this project. I used the same colors I used for the card above and combined green, white and a hint or red. I also incorporated  here.
