July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

MMH Countdown to Creativity

Hello and welcome! Today marks the beginning of our countdown to the launch of our July My Monthly Hero kit! This one is a beauty, and we cannot wait for you all to see it! The release will be on a Tuesday this month, a bit different than our usual Monday launch due to the Independence Day holiday. But that's a bonus for you - this means four days of countdown posts instead of the usual three! Stick with us throughout the weekend as our artists show off projects made with this month's kit. And remember to comment on each and every post - we'll be giving away a kit on Tuesday morning, before the kit launches at 1pm eastern/10am pacific on Tuesday, July 5! Now join Yana as she gives the first glimpse of this gorgeous kit!

The sentiment stamps in the newest Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit are simply the cutest and they go so well with the images. For the card I'm sharing today I used the "Have a Jelly Good Birthday" one and paired it with several heat embossed jellyfish images.

But let me start from the beginning. When I saw all the coral images in this month's stamp set as well as the add-on set I immediately imagined a beautiful and very colorful coral reef. I had my heart set on yellow, orange, coral and pink colors and I decided that would make a fantastic color combination for this project.

I first heat embossed various corals in hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="white embossing powder"] onto a piece of watercolor cardstock. I also embossed the sentiment and the top layers of the jellyfish images (those are color layering, but I didn't want to do any layering for this project, so I went with top detail layers for the two large jellyfish).

The next step was to blend a variety of colors of Distress inks and add water on top to imitate air bubbles in the water. You can also create this look with the help of watercolors. I bleached the insides of the jellyfish images with the help of water and added glossy accents on top to create a slightly raised dimensional look.

To complete this card I adhered a number of clear sequins and droplets from my stash.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Tuesday morning, July 5, before the kit launches at 1pm eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Have a jelly good day!
