Cover Plate Dies Create Quick, Gorgeous Cards

Hey, everybody! It's Maria here and today I get to share a really fun and easy way to make a card. As I was putting my card together I was in a little bit of a hurry but I still wanted to make a card that had a wow factor to it. Cover Plate dies to the rescue! Hero Arts has so many gorgeous cover plate dies that can be used in a variety of different ways. You can get artsy and color them, you can use them as a stencil, but if you are in a hurry you can cut them out of colored or glittery cardstock and let them be the star of the show straight out of the die cutter. That's what I did today.

I started out by ink blending my background using Lemon Drop, Taffy and Splash Reactive Inks. I slightly overlapped the colors as I blended so that I would have five colors instead of just the three that I was inking with. I love this color blend and it's one that I reach for often because I think it's so eye-catching. After ink blending my background I glued it to a white top-folding card base.

Next, I cut the Hearts & Blossoms Cover Plate die out of Pitch Black cardstock. I used a thin layer of Precision Glue to adhere it to my ink blended background. I pressed it down firmly so that it adhered properly.

I heat embossed a sentiment from the Signpost Stamp & Cut XL in white on Pitch Black cardstock. I cut it down to size and adhered it using some foam tape. The final touch was to add three sequins followed by some Sparkle Clear Lacquer Pen. The sequins and sparkle added the perfect, subtle touch to the card while still allowing the Hearts & Blossoms Cover Plate die to be the star of the show.

And, there you have it! The next time you need to make an incredibly fast yet eye-catching card just reach for those cover plate dies and let them shine! Do you all have a favorite cover plate die? If so, let me know what it is in the comments below.

Have an awesome day!
