Cockatoo Bird-day Wishes!

Hi everybody! It's Maria here today and I hope you are all having a fantastic day. Today I've decided to play along with this month's Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge and the theme is "Another Year Older!"

So, of course I'm making a birdday card. Mmmmhmmm, a "bird-day" card...

I started out by grabbing the Every Which Way Stencil and ink-blending it onto white cardstock using Lemon Drop and Taffy Reactive Inks. I added the Lemon Drop in the center and blended the darker Taffy around the edges to create a bright center. I removed the stencil and then lightly ink-blended again (without the stencil) using the same two colors to add a little color to the white background. I cut this piece down to 4" x 5.25" and, after making sure it was completely dry, I heat embossed the sentiment using Onyx pigment ink and clear embossing powder.

The next step was to stamp my Cockatoo and branch images in Intens-ified Black ink on white cardstock. I colored the images with Copic markers and added a little extra detail with colored pencils and a white gel pen. I die cut the images using the coordinating dies and added foam tape to the back of them.

I decided to use a Sand card base and I added my stenciled layer with foam adhesive. Next, I added the Cockatoo on the branch just above the sentiment. To finish my card off I added some white enamel dots from the Neutrals pack.

Overall this is a pretty simple card and I think the layout could easily be used again and again to create many different kinds of cards. Since we've got a great challenge going on this month I encourage you to join the fun and enter one of your own cards for a chance to win a Hero Arts gift card. Ok, that's it for today you guys! I hope you all have the best day and happy crafting!
