Color Layering Wreath for Any Season

Color Layering Wreath for Any Season

Fall is quickly approaching and we have some gorgeous new stamps, dies and stencils in our new 2022 Handmade for the Holidays Catalog that are perfect for autumn crafting.

Today I'm using the Color Layering Wreath Stencils, which contain four stencils that layer to create a custom colored wreath for any season. While Christmas and Winter might be the more obvious occasions to use this stencil, I'm going to use just one of the stencils and create a beautiful fall card.

My favorite technique for stencils is creating texture with Hero Paste. Since we now offer Gold Hero Paste, I couldn't think of a better choice for this wreath. And of course, the Hero Tools Palette Knife is a must-have tool for spreading your pastes and waxes.

For the leaves I created an ink-blended background using Spicy Mustard, Pumpkin, and Moss inks on a panel of white cardstock. Then I stamped several leaf images from the new Grateful Pumpkin clear stamp set with black ink and die-cut them with the coordinating dies. Such a quick and easy way to color images!

Next, I die-cut the "blessed" message from the Grateful Words Fancy Dies set. This set of dies contains five script words with matching frames that outline the words. The frames create a shadow behind the word and make it easier to adhere the detailed die to your cards and projects. I love the soft look of vellum as the base layer, as it adds a delicate touch and allows the wreath to be the star of the card.

For the finishing touch, I grabbed my Gold Hero Pearls and traced over the "blessed" message and randomly added some dimensional pearlescent dots around the leaves. The fine-tip applicator allows you to create drops of any size!

This versatile Color Layering Wreath Stencil could make an appearance on your cards all year long. I'm thinking a lime green ink for the base layer with pastel Enamel Dots as flowers for a Spring card. The possibilities are endless!

Hope you have an amazing day!
