Stitched Numbers & More Collection – Card Inspiration with Annie Williams

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m thrilled to be back on the blog today to share a couple of projects using the new Stitched Numbers & More Collection from Spellbinders.  There are so many ways to incorporate these bold new stitched numbers and symbols into cards and I was inspired to create three fun cards with them for birthdays and every day.

34th Birthday Card

Naturally, the new Stitched Numbers Dies are perfect for birthday cards and even better for kinda funny birthday cards.  Here I used some fun punctuation and a snarky greeting along with my stitched numbers for this cute birthday card for a friend.

I started by blending Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink onto some white cardstock and cutting it using the Stitched Numbers and Stitched Punctuation & Symbols Die Sets.  After stitching all of the die-cuts with gold metallic thread, I adhered them to their outlines that had been cut from Cosmic Sky Cardstock.

For the background, I cut Brushed White Cardstock using the largest die from the Precision Layering Mini Slimline A Die Set and added a sentiment to the bottom of the panel with Gold Hot Foil and the Inside Card Glimmer Sentiments Plate Set.  After embossing the top portion of the panel with the Circle Illusion 3D Embossing Folder, I matted it with Gold Mirror and Teal Topaz Cardstock and adhered it to a white card base.  The stitched elements were then adhered to the card front with foam adhesive.

P.S. Love Card

I’m always adding postscripts to my cards and emails, so I thought it would be fun to stitch a bold one for the front of this pretty love card next.

After cutting the letters and periods from Pink Sand Cardstock, I stitched them using pink variegated thread so that the darker stitching appeared towards the bottom of the sentiment for an ombre effect.  The outlines were cut from Wild Berry Cardstock and adhered to the back of the stitched pieces with liquid glue.  For the secondary sentiment, I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using one of the greetings from the Mini Sincere Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set.

To create the background, I matted a piece of patterned paper from the Floral Friendship Paper Pad with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhered it to a white card base.  After popping the sentiments on top of the card front with foam adhesive, I added some pretty flowers and leaves cut with the Be Bold Blooms Die Set and a few Gold Mix Gems.

Sweet 5th Birthday Card

Lastly, I wanted to create a simple and sweet birthday card for my niece with no stitching at all!

I started by cutting white and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the five and exclamation point dies and then added Pink, Aquamarine AB, and Prism AB Gems to the stitching holes instead of thread.  To complete the sentiment, I cut the remaining letters out of Mirror Gold, Pink Sand, Waterfall, and Purple Mist Cardstock using the Be Bold Lowercase Alphabet Die Set and layered them for a fun shadow effect.

The background was created by embossing white cardstock with the Puff Dotty 3D Embossing Folder and adding Kitsch Flamingo and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink on top using the Puff Dotty Stencil.  After adhering the sentiment to the card front, I added a couple of pretty flowers cut with the Be Bold Blooms Die Set.
