Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings

Hello Crafters! Nancy Leppek here from Scrapper at Heart.com. I am delighted to be back as a guest on the Spellbinder’s Blog. Today, I am sharing three different cards using the recently released Ski-Son’s Greetings Collection from Simon Hurley. Fun fact, I have never been on snow skis before, but that certainly didn’t stop me from having some fun with this collection. Let’s get to it, shall we!

Dashing Through the Snow

Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings, E3D-160, BP-335, S3-563, S5-717 For my first card, I am hitting the slopes and using all of the items in this collection. That is me, at the base of the card, more than likely, wiping out in the trees! LOL

There’s No Place Like Home…

Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings, E3D-160, BP-335, S3-563, S5-717 I know when someone thinks of a Ski Lodge in the woods, they think a rustic vibe, and perhaps a house to blend in. I decided to be bold and bright.  Why blend in when you can stand out…heck, it might even scare the bears away.

Sending Warm Hugs

Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings, E3D-160, BP-335, S3-563, S5-717 I decided that for my last card, I would show that this wonderful collection can be enjoyed even if you do not like the snow or skiing. I wanted this card to have a Fall vibe, and I hope I did just that.
  • I knew I wanted my background to portray a sunset with mountains, so I took some regular copy paper and made my own mountain stencils by ripping several times until I was happy with my landscape. I started with a piece of Beeswax Cardstock and worked from the base of the card up, blending with various tones of yellow, orange, and red Oxide Inks and Large Blending Brushes.
  • Next, I cut out all of the pieces I needed for my lodge and trees from the Ski Lodge Etched Dies. I used these colors of Colorwheel CS: Raven, Anchor, Fern, Carrot, and Beeswax.
  • I did ink up the edges of my trees and the lodge to give it some dimension, too.
  • The sentiment is pressed in BetterPress Black Ink and part of the Ski-Son’s Greetings Sentiments.
  • At the last minute before assembling, I decided to ground the house with a piece of Kraft CS across the bottom, and I am so glad I did.
I want to thank Spellbinders for the opportunity to guest here today.  Feel free to reach out to me on my blog Scrapper at Heart, my IG Page, and or my FB page-Scrapper@heart and say hello. Happy Crafting, Nanc’
