Hello there,
Michelle Short here to share a step-by-step tutorial with you using the
Wonderful Tulips Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set combined with the
Wonderful Tulips Layered Stencils from the Four Petal Collection.

STEP 1
Start off by cutting
Champagne Glimmer Foil to size using
Quick Trimmer. I like to have a bit of wiggle room around the foil plates but don’t want too much that can lead to over-foiling. Keep any little bits you cut off; they are perfect for sentiments!

STEP 2
Take the
Wonderful Tulips Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and prepare to foil onto white cardstock. I like to hold foiling plates down with
Best Ever Craft Tape, as I find I get less shifting doing it this way.

When experimenting with this plate, I found that I needed more pressure in the center of the plate. I find a great way to do this is to add more Best Ever Craft Tape to the back of the plate to act like a shim. This tape can be taken off and reused multiple times!
STEP 3
Heat up
Glimmer Hot Foil System and once heated, place cardstock with foil and plate onto the platform, hot foil plate side down. Press the timer button. Once the timer button stops flashing, run through the
Platinum 6 with the shims provided. Leave to cool down slightly and then remove plate and foil to reveal the beautiful, foiled tulips!

STEP 4
Place the first of the
Wonderful Tulips Layered Stencils over the image and hold in place with
Best Ever Craft Tape. Apply ink blending through the stencil using
Blending Brushes. I am using Distress Inks here, but any ink will work. I am starting with my lightest shade which is Wilted Violet and focusing most of the color toward the bottom of the stenciled area.

STEP 5
Remove the stencil and place stencil 2 down. This time add more saturation of color and then switch to a darker shade of ink (Villainous Potion) and add that towards the bottom of the stenciled area. Repeat with stencil 3.

I find that adding darker shading towards the bottom of the tulips makes them seem more rounded and dimensional.
STEP 6
Remove stencils and place stencil 5 down and add ink blending to the leaves. I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness Distress Inks and focused the darker color towards the bottom of the leaves and stems. Repeat for stencils 6 and 7 (I did not use stencil 4).

STEP 7
Once the ink blending and stenciling is complete, die-cut the image using the coordinating
Wonderful Tulips Die. This die only cut the tops of the tulips, so there are lots of possibilities for design placement.

Cut around the other two sides using a guillotine or paper trimmer.
STEP 8
Add soft ink blending (Wilted Violet Distress Ink) to an A2-sized card base around where the image is, for some added interest. Adhere the image on top using thin foam tape.

STEP 9
Foil
Making Me Smile Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate with
Champagne Glimmer Foil onto white cardstock, in the same way as the tulips. Die cut using the coordinating die. I love that these sentiments come on one plate and one die. Save the rest of the sentiments for another project!

STEP 10
Die cut an additional two layers of die cuts and layer them behind the foiled sentiment with
Bearly Art Glue, before adhering to the card.

STEP 11
Embellish with
Prism AB Color Essentials Gems, using a
Tool ‘N One to help with placement.

I love that you can quickly and easily add color to the Wonderful Tulips with stencils and ink blending. You can also use as many or as few stencil layers as you want. Experiment with different looks!

I hope I have inspired you to try foiling and stenciling using the Four Petal Collection. Thank you so much for stopping by, have a wonderful day!
