How to Make a Dracula Halloween Card with the Drac Die Set

Hey there, crafty friends! Marie here again from Marie Nicole Designs. I am so excited to share this fun card creation featuring the Drac die set from the new Simon Hurley Halloween Hugs collection! The collection has so many cute Halloween creatures, accessories, sentiments, and even an embossing folder. Tons of inspiration to draw from!

For today’s card, I'll show you how to assemble the Drac character and build a background for him. Let’s get started!

ASSEMBLE DRAC

Cut out all the pieces for Drac from the dies. I have each die displayed here along with the cardstock I cut it from. Since this is a spin on Dracula, I chose to keep colors black, red, and grey.

A few of the die pieces to note are the tongue piece that goes inside the mouth and the pieces that go behind the teeth and tongue, as well as the eyebrows. Since the tongue is so tiny and cuts out on the same die as the teeth, I cut it in white and then used an alcohol marker to color it pink. The backing pieces are cut from black, and I glue them behind the teeth and tongue, and behind the eyebrows.

INK BLEND A BACKGROUND

Build a background for Drac. I am using the Precision Layering A2 dies to cut out a smaller card panel and then ink blend. I'm using the colors Chipped Sapphire, Uncharted Mariner, and Stormy Sky. I added the lightest color to the middle, and worked out to the edges where I applied the darkest color.

FOIL ON THE BATS

This step is optional. Using the Winged Shadows press plate from the Midnight Mischief collection, I foiled on the bats in black foil.

If you do not have this plate, you can build a batty background using the little bat dies that come with the Drac set!

CUT A FEW MORE ACCESSORIES

Speaking of the bat dies, I wanted to show you the bats and the moon that are included with Drac. I cut them out of cardstock in order to add to my card.

FOIL A SENTIMENT

This collection also has a press plate full of punny Halloween sentiments that you can add to your cards. I foiled this plate onto black cardstock using red foil.

After the sentiments were foiled, I cut them out using the coordinating die. This gives you a handful of sentiments ready to go as you are crafting. I used the “You’re Fangtastic” sentiment for this card.

Now that all the pieces are ready, we can assemble them all onto the card to finish the scene. I used lots of foam tape on most of the pieces to add dimension. The moon I chose to use liquid glue on, so it could look like it was more in the background.

And that finishes the card!

I hope you enjoyed this Drac character from Simon Hurley’s Halloween Hugs collection. I love how this card turned out! All of the characters are just too cute to spook. Have fun creating!
