Creating Cheerful Cards Using the Home for the Holidays Collection
Hello, crafty friends! Isha Gupta here and I am so happy to be on the Spellbinders blog featuring the Home For The Holidays Collection. This collection is so much fun and is packed full of gorgeous products including some beautiful press plates. I chose just a few of the products for the post today and decided on a slightly non-traditional color palette. I feel it’s never to soon to start on the Holiday cards.
Merry Card
The inspiration for the first card was the Registration Press Plate Color Mix Merry. I used the Night and Day Pines press plate and the Better press machine to get a subtle impression onto the Cotton Card Panel.
Next, I used the registration template to Betterpress and added various colors to the previously embossed panel.
Foil the sentiment using Matte Gold Foil, and die-cut using the coordinating die. Die-cut once more using the Mirror Gold cardstock.
Die-cut the holly leaves and the berries from the Candy Canes and Holly dies. Adhere the panel to a white cardbase and assemble all the images.
To finish, add gold splatters to the corners of the card.
Merry Little Christmas Card
This card started by foiling the same Night and Day Pines press plate. Yes, we can foil with the press plate and it gives beautiful results. I used Matte Gold foil for this to get a subtle effect.
I then sponged some inks by Pinkfresh Studio to create an ombre effect. Foil acts as a resist so it’s a fun way to add color to the foiled images.
I took the Dashing Reindeer press plate and added different colors using the registration template. Die-cut the image using the coordinating dies. Foil the sentiment and die-cut. I die-cut a vellum piece from Emerald Cut Label and Tag die to ground the images onto the card. I then die-cut the holly leaves and berries from the Poinsettia Spray dies and adhere to add some movement.
To finish, add crystal glaze to the baubles.
Season Of Cheer Card
For this card, I used yet another gorgeous product Poinsettia Spray dies and Starshine Background. I started by die-cutting a white card panel using the Emerald Cut Label and Tag die, add texture using the Starshine Background. I die-cut another panel from the mirror gold cardstock and adhered to the two edges.
Adhere this to a white card base. Next, I die-cut various elements from the Poinsettia Spray dies and arranged to my liking, we can customize it like I doubled the leaves to give more fullness, added three Poinsettia flower to create a visual triangle, etc.
Adhere this to the card using 3d foam.
Flick gold paint to two edges for added interest. I foiled the sentiment from the Mistletoe Greetings press plate and adhered to the card.
I hope you got inspired by this trio of cards featuring various products from the Home From The Holidays Collection. Thank you for stopping by and have a nice day!
