Clean and Simple BetterPress Christmas Cards

Hi everyone! It’s Cassie Trask and I’m happy to be back sharing some new card ideas featuring the Simon Hurley – Glad Tidings BetterPress Plates! The elegance of the results from the BetterPress have me reaching for it time and time again, and the Glad Tidings BetterPress Plates definitely have me feeling some serious nostalgia.

Santa’s Sleigh

I was really wanting some simple Christmas cards with a lot of white space, so when I saw Santa’s Sleigh, I knew I needed to add a pop of color on the background to really make him pop!

• Using some Porcelain BetterPress Cotton Card Panels, ink up the Santa’s Sleigh BetterPress Plates with the Thunder ink from the Jet Set BetterPress Ink set and run that through your Platinum 6 die cutting machine.
• Die cut a circle from some Waterfall
• Assemble everything onto an A2 white panel and attach to an A2 card base.
• Spatter with some gray distress ink and some white paint.

Nontraditional Christmas Colored Nutcrackers

Going off of the same color palette as my previous card, I was inspired to ink up each of the nutcrackers from the Nutcracker Trio BetterPress Plates in various colors to create my background. There is a lot of dimension to be had with this card just by placing those die cut nutcrackers all around to create the background.

• Using the Saffron ink from the Nature Tones BetterPress ink set and the Cruise and Taffy inks from the Jet Set BetterPress ink set, ink up the nutcrackers from the Nutcracker Trio a few times on Porcelain BetterPress Cotton Card Panels and then die cut those out.
• Attach your nutcrackers to the front of an A2 panel of Snowdrift cardstock and spatter with gray distress ink.
• Using the Thunder ink, ink up the nutcrackers again as well as the sentiments and die cut them out. Watercolor one of them using distress inks.
• Assemble your card and use foam tape to attach your watercolored nutcracker and sentiment.

Using Several BetterPress Plates to Create a Scene

The Ornamental Press Plates are such a unique set, because they are meant to build a scene.  It’s super easy to do just that, because the packaging comes with an acetate sheet that helps you line up everything just the way you need it to go to be successful.

• Follow the package directions as you ink up the three different plates using the Cruise ink for the leaves, the Thunder ink for the strings, and the Saffron, Taffy, and French Blue inks for the ornaments themselves onto a Porcelain BetterPress Cotton Card Panel.
• Ink up your edges with some Cruise ink then spatter gray distress ink onto your panel. Trim it down to be slightly smaller than an A2 size panel.
• Attach your panel to an A2-sized panel of Waterfall cardstock and attach it to a cardbase.
