Hi, crafty friends! Lea Lawson here with you today, creating this bold Halloween card featuring the Classic Mouse Costume Party die set. You will also need the Classic Mouse Wedding die set, or the Steamboat Willie Duo die set for this card. We are going to color block our background to really help our costumed mice pop!

Today I’m sharing my step-by-step process in easy-to-follow photos and instructions. I hope you find them helpful!

Diecut the Classic Mouse body pieces from Raven cardstock.
Please note: the dies are flipped up for your reference. You will need to flip them over and cut into the cardstock when diecutting.

Diecut the face layers & vest from Classic White cardstock, and the tongue layer twice from Pomegranate cardstock.

Diecut the shoe layers & hat band from Classic White cardstock, and the tuxedo pieces, hat & shoe details from Onyx Glitter Metallic cardstock.

Diecut the shoes & ribbons from Pomegranate cardstock, and the dress layers from Antique White Glitter Metallic & Pearl Metallic cardstocks.

Assemble the Classic Mouse characters in the order shown.
TIP: Spellbinders offers a fabulous layering guide for this die set. I use these often when I’m diecutting with a set for the first time.

Diecut the Classic Mouse Costume Party dies in the following colors:
Dress collar: Antique White Glitter Metallic
Cards, bunny: Classic White
Bunny details: Blush & Raven
Card backers (x2), hearts: Pomegranate
Crown, staff: Brushed Gold

Assemble the crown & staff, then adhere to the Queen of Hearts mouse as shown.

Assemble the bunny and cards, then adhere to the Magician mouse as shown.
NOTE: I originally cut the hat band from Classic White, but decided it would look better in Pomegranate.

3D emboss 4” x 5.25” panels of Pomegranate & Brushed Gold cardstock with the Trick or Treat 3D embossing folder. The best plate sandwich for running this through your Platinum 6 is Platform Base A, 3D Embossing Folder with paper inside, and Adapter Plate D.
TIP (not pictured): To help the paper not crack, I like to mist the back of my cardstock with a little bit of water. Some crafters prefer to mist the front, but I have found the back works best for me!

Cut the Brushed Gold panel in half at an angle.

Add thin foam strips to the long side of the panel, and liquid glue along the rest. Adhere to the Pomegranate panel as shown.

Cut a ¼” strip of Antique White Glitter Metallic cardstock, and adhere along the border of the Brushed Gold. Trim away any excess.

Glue the entire 3D embossed panel to an A2-sized white card base.

Adhere the costumed mice to each section as shown.

Add a Halloween sentiment to the lower left corner with thin foam strips.
NOTE: I used a foiled sentiment from a previous crafting session. There is a fantastic sentiment stamp & die set for this collection, which would be perfect for this card! I did not have the set to feature in today’s post.

Accent the card with Gold crystals to finish.
TIP: I find using the Precision Tool from the Handy Tool Kit helpful when adhering the tiny crystals to the card.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this card come to life, and how bold color blocking can make your die-cut pieces pop! I share lots of inspiration on my Instagram feed and YouTube channel - follow and subscribe to see even more inspiration with this beautiful collection. Happy crafting!
