VIDEO: Tips for Light-up Cards and Layering Stamps featuring the August Card Kit

Hello, everyone! It's Channin here and today I’m sharing several cards I created with the hauntingly fun August Card Kit!

We are going to start with the card featuring the portraits of Abraham and Katrina. To create this card I first stamped the portrait of Abraham in Sand, Cup O' Joe, Antique Ivory, Granite, Field Greens, Charcoal, Espresso and INTENS-ified Black Ink. I then stamped Katrina in Peony, Pink Grapefruit, Granite, Field Greens, Cup O' Joe, Espresso and INTENS-ified Black Ink. After I stamped the portraits I created the frames with the Victorian Frame Dies. I die cut the top two frame layers out of Anchor cardstock, ink-blended the layers with INTENS-ified Black Ink and then adhered together. Then using the diecut frame as a guide, I die cut out the portraits out using the frame base die.

Next, I ink-blended the tops of the portraits diecuts with Sand Core Ink and then adhered the frames to them with foam adhesive. I then die cut two hanging witch shoes with the August Die Set of the Month out of Raven cardstock and a cat out of silver cardstock. I then adhered the hanging shoes behind the portraits and then adhered the negatives from the cat's eyes to the strings.

Next, trimmed down some Cinnamon cardstock to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and then stamped it several times with the spider web in INTENS-ified Black Ink. I then ink-blended the panel with Cup O' Joe Core Ink and then adhere the panel to an A2 panel of Raven cardstock. I then adhered the panel to the front of an A2 top-folding white card base.

Next, I stamped and silver heat-embossed a sentiment from the Abraham and Katrina stamp set onto Raven cardstock. I then die cut the sentiment out along with several moths. Next, I adhered the portraits to the card front and lastly I adhered the moths and sentiment with foam adhesive.

The next two cards are the light-up cards though the design is the same for both cards, what I stamped the portrait of Abraham is different which creates two different looks. The first light-up card features the Abraham stamped on cardstock in the same exact ink colors as I stamped the portrait of Abraham for the first card. After I stamped the portrait I created a frame out of Cinnamon cardstock and ink-blended the layers with Cup O' Joe Core Ink. I then diecut the portrait of Abraham out with the base frame die.

Next, I die cut the acetate with the base frame die. It did not cut through but I used the impression the die made on the acetate as a guide and I fussy cut the acetate base out with scissors. This does not need to be a precise cutting, rough cut and is actually even better because will get covered with the cardstock frame. I then trimmed down some of the Holographic Rainbow Film to fit onto the acetate base. After I trimmed down the Holographic Rainbow Film, I removed the backing and then adhered it to the acetate base. Tip: I pressed with a dry cloth to make sure the Holographic Rainbow Film was adhered to the acetate without making fingerprints.

Next, I adhere the cardstock frame to the Holographic Rainbow Film/acetate base. I then adhered the portrait of Abraham to the backside of the Holographic Rainbow Film/acetate base. I then die cut an A2 panel of Raven cardstock with the detail die for the Victorian frame to create a window. Next, I adhered the portrait to the panel and then adhered the panel to the front of an A2 top-folding white card base with foam adhesive (single layer) and sandwiching the an assembled flashlight between the panel and the card base.

I then stamped a small and large pumpkin in Papaya, Pumpkin, Pale Tomato, Espresso and Field Greens Core Inks. Next, I die cut the pumpkins out and adhered them to the card front with stacked cardstock for dimension. I made sure to adhere the smaller pumpkin over the button for the flashlight as an indicator for where to press. I then die cut the string and nail for the portrait with the August Die Set out of the same cardstocks as I did for the first card. I then trimmed off the shoes and adhered the strings and nail to the card front. Lastly, I finished the card by stamping and silver heat-embossing a sentiment, die-cutting it out with coordinating die, and then adhering it to the card front with foam adhesive.

The second light-up card differs really only on how and what I stamped the portrait of Abraham. For this card I started by stamping the final layer or outline stamp for Abraham in INTENS-ified Black Ink onto vellum. I then poured black embossing powder over the image and then heat set. Next, I stamped a layer of his face in Field Greens, then a layer for his hair in Cup O' Joe, and then a layer for his clothing in Charcoal. I then poured clear embossing powder over and heat set with my heat tool. Once I finished stamping the portrait on the vellum I finished the card by followed the same steps as I did for the first light-up card with the only exception being that I doubled up the foam adhesive when adhering the front panel to the card base.
