Video: Hot Foiling with Non-Traditional Holiday Colors

Hello there, Michelle here. Today I have a card and video to share hot foiling with non-traditional holiday colours. I am using the Wreath & Finch Letterpress + Foil Plate , and although I am hot foiling today, you can use the plate with letterpress too for a completely different look!

Here is the video showing how I made the card:

(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please watch here on YouTube .)

I started off my card by taking a panel of Amethyst cardstock and placing Silver Glimmer Hot Foil on top. I then placed the wreath plate on top, face down. I held everything in place with low-tack tape.

I let my Glimmer Hot Foil System heat up and placed the plate and cardstock on top (plate side down). With these plates, I like to let my platform heat up for double the time. I find I get a better impression that way, so I pressed the button for the timer, removed the platform from the base and did it for a second time before adding the shims on top and running it through my die cutting machine. I then carefully removed the tape and plate from the panel.

I did the same thing for the finch plate with the same Amethyst cardstock and Silver Glimmer Hot Foil .

I took the largest of the Nesting Rectangle Infinity Dies , placed it on my panel and ran it through my die cutting machine to cut it out. I then added ink blending around the edges using Core Inks. I blended Amethyst Core Ink using an Extra Large Blending Brush , followed by Grape Juice with a Large Blending Brush , and then a little Pitch Black to darken up the edges even more.

The panel was then adhered to an A2 sized card base (4.25" x 5.5") made from Amethyst cardstock using tape runner adhesive. I took the 'happy holidays' sentiment from the Cozy Study Bundle and stamped it onto Pitch Black cardstock with Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink . I applied White Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut out using the coordinating Frame Cut.

I made a bow from black twine and then fussy cut the finch using scissors. The bow was adhered to the back of the finch using foam tape before adhering onto the card. The sentiment was adhered using thin foam tape. To finish, I added Black Enamel Dots around the wreath.

Whilst not a traditional holiday colour scheme (probably more suited to Halloween!), I really love how it turned out. You could easily change the colour scheme, however, and maybe use red and gold, or blue & gold. Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Karen L K,

Such a nice card! I like the different colors blended around the edges.
