Video: Create A Sparkly Christmas Card With Lots Of Texture

Hello there, it's Lisa here with you today and I have a super sparkly shaker card to share with you. I am playing with the Candy Cane Toss Up Stencils and adding lots of interest and texture with paste as well as sharing a few tips for creating a shaker card.

Here is the video which shows how I made the card.

I started off by taking a piece of Ultra Pink Cardstock and taping it onto my work surface. I took the Candy Cane Toss Up Stencils and placed the first stencil down over my cardstock, securing it in place with low tack tape. Using blending brushes, I blended Ultra Pink Core Ink through the stencil making sure to add color into the four little squares in the corners of the stencil. I removed the stencil and placed the second stencil over the top, using the four corner squares to align it. Using a palette knife, I applied a thin layer of Glitter Paste through the stencil and left it to dry.

Whilst the panel was drying, I took the Candy Cane Season Etched Dies and cut the shadow die from Vellum and the outline word die from Kiwi, Cherry, Paradise and Ultra Pink Cardstock. Using tiny dabs of glue, I adhered the letters onto the vellum, making sure to tap off any excess glue before adhering it down.

Next, I took the Candy Cane Swag Stamp & Cut set and stamped the two holly leaves using Green Apple Core Ink. I then applied a small amount of Fresh Lawn Core Ink onto the bottoms of the leaves so that there is a little bit of variation in colour. The berries were stamped with Cherry Core Ink and I cut all three stamped images out with the coordinating dies.

Now that the stenciled panel had dried, I took the largest Nesting Rectangle Infinity Die and trimmed the panel down. I then took a smaller rectangle die and cut a window from the center. A small piece of acetate was then adhered to the back of the window using Precision Glue. I covered the back of the panel with two layers of thin foam tape so that I had a reasonable depth for my sequins to move around in.

I used two different types of sequins from my stash and placed them into the well of the shaker. I then removed the backing tape from the foam tape and pressed a top folding A2 white note card down on top. This traps the sequins inside and completes the shaker portion of the card!

The sentiment and stamped images were then added with glue onto the acetate window to finish the card. When adding the sentiment, make sure to only add glue to the back of the letters that you can see through the vellum. This way you won't get any visible on the vellum when placing it down.
