Hello there, Michelle here and today I have a card to share with you using the new S'mores Bonfire set that was released as an add-on to the July 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit. This is such a cute set and perfect for scene building.
For my card I started off by creating the background. I took a panel of Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock and added a strip of masking tape towards the bottom. Using ink blending tools, I blended on Soft Brown Shadow Ink below the masking tape for the ground. I then went in with Cup O'Joe Mid-Tone Shadow Ink. I focused most of this colour towards the edges. The tape was removed so that I could work on the sky.
I blended on Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink first, towards to the bottom, followed by Navy Mid-Tone Shadow Ink before finishing off with a little Intense Black Ink at the top. I then free-hand drew in the grass with colour pencils. The sentiment from the S'mores Bonfire set was stamped towards the top of the panel with Clear Embossing & Watermark ink. I applied White Embossing Powder and heat set. This piece was then set aside.
I took the moon, squirrel, bear and fire images from the S'mores Bonfire set and stamped these with Intense Black Ink on to white cardstock. They were coloured using Copic Markers and then die cut using the S'mores Bonfire Frame Cuts. Although I liked the background, I felt that it was too large for the characters. I decided to cut a Nesting Oval Infinity Die in the middle to create a spotlight effect. I then cut a further three ovals from white cardstock. I adhered the outside piece of the background on to a top-folding card base first and then stacked the plain white ovals in the centre. The image piece was then added on top.
The images were then adhered with a combination of Precision Glue and foam tape. To finish off, I added a few stars in the sky with white gel pens. I think the oval shape really brings the focus of the card to the middle.
