Snowy Trees - Hero Arts

Snowy Trees

I’m all about the details when it comes to cards. An otherwise simple and drab card can be spiced up with a little bit of glitter, some gems, etc.

One of my favorite ways to add that bit of detail to cards is embossing, and Hero Arts has so many fabulous embossing powders! Today’s card used two new embossing powders just released in the winter catalog, Black Sparkle and White Puff.

For my card, I started out by die cutting a frame with the Infinity Rectangle dies, then stamping it in Versamark with Woodgrain Bold Prints by Lia, and then adding a slight impression with another rectangle, slightly smaller, die.

Now, for those little details! First off, I stamped the two trees from Snowy Tree set, using Pine and Moss for my greens, and then I heat embossed them with the super fun White Puff embossing powder.

Can you see the slight difference between the trees, the way the “snow” looks on them? I got two different looks by being lazy and not being lazy. The lazy way is brushing over the tree lightly with anti-static powder, then stamping the third layer from the set in Versamark, and heat embossing. Because there’s not a lot of a anti-static powder and the ink wasn’t completely dry, extra powder clung to the die cut image, and this is the tree in the background.

For the second tree, I heated it thoroughly with my heat gun, and doused it in anti-static powder before stamping the last layer and heat embossing. This helps the embossing powder stick more strictly to where it’s supposed to, and has a more controlled look – the tree in the foreground!

I think both trees are fun looks though – what do you think?

Finally, the sentiment – I used this month’s My Monthly Hero Add-on, Christmas Trimmings, to die cut a sheet of black cardstock that I had heat embossed with the fabulous new Black Sparkle embossing powder. I also die cut a ribbon and some leaves from the same stamp/die set, heat embossed the second layer with Clear Sparkle embossing powder, and topped the trees off with it.

The entire card was topped off with some gems, and the kraft panel adhered to the card base.

Aren’t these new embossing powders so much fun?

Thanks so much for stopping in with me today and God bless!
