November My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

November My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the November My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, November 5th at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here for the next three days, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as the new optional add-on products that will also be available on Monday. Stay tuned for more inspiration all weekend long! Now let's join Janette for a first look at this holiday advent inspired kit.

I am so excited about our advent theme this month! Each year I create some sort of advent calendar for my children. This year it will definitely include this month's kit, but the kit is not limited to advent calendars and tags. Today I am sharing how I've created a card that highlights the advent feel, in A2 format, with the cling and clear combination kit.

I began by white heat embossing the kit-included Ornament Background Cling stamp on smooth bristol paper. This cling stamp is unique in that three of the ornaments can be popped out of the stamp, or left in place, to stretch its versatility. The ability to remove and replace sections of the stamp with accuracy is a feature exclusive to cling mount style stamps. I removed the optional three ornaments to stamp the remainder of the the image, and then replaced them immediately so they didn't get lost amongst the creativity on my desk! They fit snuggly in the cling mount stamp and I find it oh so clever!

Next, I applied a wash of red with a watercolor marker blended out with a paintbrush loaded with clear water. While the ornament panel dried, I dry embossed the kit-included Ornament Flap Fancy Die into Snow Layering Paper to give a hint of an outline so I could see where I needed to stamp. Then I chose to stamp "love you" from the kit included clear stamp set loaded with sentiments and numbers in black ink for one ornament, and applied a thick layer of liquid glue coated with Icicle sequins for two more.

I then die cut the colored ornament panel and popped it up with foam tape over the dry embossed "love you" and sequined background. The die itself cuts each ornament leaving the top connected in order to form a hinge so that each can be opened. I then adhered the set to a folded card base and gold heat embossed a sentiment from the add-on Warm Animals stamp set.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, November 5th, before the kit launches at 1 pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Happy crafting! We'll see you soon!
