May My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway!

May My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway!

Good afternoon! We're back with our final countdown post, leading up to the release of our May My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, May 7th at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Don’t forget to comment on each and every countdown post as we’ll be giving away a kit tomorrow morning, before the kit launches! Here's Jess with a project using a few stand-alone dies from the main kit.

Hi! Jess here with a card using the optional add-on, Ombré Reactive Spring Day ink pad, with two dies from the main kit! When I was looking at the kit I noticed two cute stand-alone leaf dies and decided to use those for my card.

I started by die-cutting the leaves with the watercolor paper from the kit several times and trimming off the stems. The watercolor paper has a lot of texture and creates fantastic leaves! I decided to do a little loose smoosh watercoloring using the Ombré Reactive Spring Day ink pad so I smooshed the ink pad onto a scrap piece of acetate and spritzed it with water. I mixed the color around with my fingertip and then dabbed the leaves into the ink. I let them dry briefly and then dabbed them again. I love the way the three colors blend together to create those bright spring shades!

While the leaves were drying I used a blending tool to blend the blue shades from the ink pad onto the top of a white card base. I used Post-It tape to mask off the bottom 2/3rds of the card. I wanted a little texture in the blended background so I dabbed at it with a crumpled wet wipe to lift color in unusual textures. I stamped the sentiment and branch with Versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. Finally I arranged my leaves and adhered them with a mix of regular adhesive and foam mounting tape. I love all the variety of this kit and how two little pieces of it can create such a bright and cheery card!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all the countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, May 7th before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Love the bright colors of this card, and how the lower part is just plain white with the color all concentrated on top. So effective. Thanks.
