Interactive Flower Truck Card

Hi everyone and Happy Friday! This is Rachel Kleinman here to share a super sweet card using the May Card Kit of the Month - and it’s even interactive!

This card uses the darling Flower Delivery Truck Die that is a part of the May Hero Studio Card Kit of the Month. I also enjoyed using a wide variety of the new ColorWheel cardstocks by Spellbinders.

So, the first step of this card is to put together your truck using your favorite colors. I highly recommend you have your Hero Arts Tweezers handy while you work with these tiny blooms. Those tweezers are a lifesaver!

Once the truck is complete, I got started on the interactive portion. This is one of the very first ways I ever created an interactive card, which means it requires minimal dies and is not unnecessarily complicated! You first need to select your background cardstock color; I used Oceanside and cut one panel sized 4.25” x 5.5”. You will also need an A2 card base handy. Towards the bottom third of your panel, use a long rectangle die to cut right into the middle of your panel. I used an old random sentiment die I keep on hand but you can also just use your paper trimmer to cut out a long, thin rectangle. I also embossed my panel with a stencil called Petal Burst to give it some texture.

Now it’s time to go through your wallet (it’s up to you if you raid a child’s piggy bank 😅) and find those old pennies you know you’ll never use. Place a small circle foam dot on the center of your penny. Place the penny, with the foam circle up, under your cut rectangle. Then place a second penny on top of that foam piece. You’re essentially making a penny sandwich (yum) in between the rectangle cut out. Since the Flower Delivery Truck is so large, I added two penny sandwiches to keep the truck stable. Just one penny will mean your truck can spin in all directions, and hey, maybe a Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin Ride is what you’re going for! You do you!

Make sure your panel is right-side-up and add the truck to the pennies. I used the strongest glue I have, which is called E6000, to glue the truck onto the two pennies. A strong double-sided tape piece will likely work as well. Do NOT add any adhesive to the backside of the pennies.

Now flip over your panel to the backside and add some foam adhesive. Make sure the foam does not interfere with anywhere your pennies will move along the ‘track’ you created. I also added a strip of Oceanside cardstock to the card base so when the truck moves the colors are more seamless, rather than having a white rectangle show through.

The card is almost finished! On the front side of the card, I added the sentiment ‘It’s Your Day’. This is stamped in Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and the sentiment is from the May Hero Studio Bonus Item you receive for free if you subscribe to the Whole Studio. Finally, some clear enamel dots finish off the card!

And now you’ve got a fun interactive card! Watch your truck vroom vroom on its way to the next flower delivery 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a very crafty weekend!
