Birthday Panda One Layer, No Line, Copic Colored Card

Hey my friends! Today I want to show you how I created this one layer, no line, Copic colored card with the new Birthday Panda stamp set. Shadows and layers bring a project to life, but they can make a card super thick. When mailing a card, I prefer to make them as thin as possible. Dimension does not have to mean bulky. We can create depth in a one layer card with color choice.

Hero Arts Supplies I Used:

1. CM550 Birthday Panda Stamp Set
2. AF235 Cornflower Mid-Tone Shadow Ink
3. Dove White Side-folded Card
4. Contour Ink

Other Supplies I Used:

1. Post-It Tape
2. Copic Markers
3. Copy Paper
4. White Gel Pen
5. Staedtler Triplus Fineliner 0.3mm
6. MISTI Stamping Tool

To begin our one layer wonder, we will need to create some masks. Stamp your images onto some copy paper and fussy cut them out. I used Intensified Black Ink for this. Copy paper works so well for masking because it lays so closely to the card you're working on. When you stamp over the masks, there are no gaps between images.

Next, add some adjustable adhesive dots to the backs of all of your masks and position them into a scene you can live with.

Then, mask off a center block on your card base with one inch thick Post-It Tape. Using a Blending Brush, add some Cornflower Ink to the open area, right over the top of your masks.

Next, peel up your border mask and stamp your scene down. You'll need to peel up the masks for the background images first and stamp them with Contour Ink. Your foreground masks will reserve the real estate on your card base for the closer images.

Once you've stamped out the scene, you can begin to paint it in with your alcohol markers. I chose a palette of blue, red violet, yellow green, yellowish browns and warm grays.

For a few of the details, I used Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pens. These 0.3 mm pens come in lots of colors and can help add interest and definition to your no line coloring.

DRAMATIC NOTE: One of my markers, E33, leaked over the top of my highest bamboo image. Ugh!! So I used a colorless blender to erase as much as I could. It was still quite visible and I had done so much work on this project and didn't want to lose it. So, I used a white gel pen to draw some white vines and doodle flowers around the bamboo. Now it's hardly noticeable.

I added a sentiment from the stamp set with Intensified Black Ink and that was it! No sequins or embellishments were allowed on my one layer wonder.
