A Great "Advent"ure!

I have been hoping for years that Hero Arts would come out with an advent set, and my wish was finally granted! Oh what fun it was to create some advent-style cards with the November My Monthly Hero kit! The kit has already sold out, but I still wanted to share some fun ideas for using it. If you missed out on it, you might want to consider a subscription. For those of you who were able to grab one, shipping begins this Friday!

For my first card, I inked up the large ornament stamp from the kit with Antigua, Green Hills and Lime Green randomly until all areas were covered. I stamped it on Snow paper, then stamped the numbers in Black. I didn’t put them in order as it is a little challenge for kids to spy for the next number! I then lined up the die and cut the “doors”. I lightly traced the ornaments inside the die on the Pool card so I would know where to stamp images behind the ornament doors. Erase all marks before you glue the top layer to the card. Add cords, ribbons, gems.

Loving this kit so much, I decided to make another watercolored card. I inked the stamp in black and stamped onto watercolor paper. I let the ink thoroughly dry, then I began watercoloring all the images with my Watercolor Dot Palette.

After I was done I was ready to stamp the numbers, but resisted because I loved it without cutting the doors. I was afraid the numbers would overpower the pretty colors, so I let it be. I added some gems and glitter and mounted it onto gold and black and then white.

This was such fun that I am going to show my neighborhood group to see who wants to make them for their grandkids!! What a great “Advent”ure!!

You're invited! Join us for a live shoot in the Creativebug studio streaming on Facebook at 4pm PT today. You'll learn more about My Monthly Hero kits, inks, stamps and dies. With a three month subscription up for grabs, this is sure to be one fun event you don’t want to miss!

Thanks for stopping by!
