Hello friends! It's Mindy here with you today to share how I created this mixed media card featuring the new Brick Embossing Powder . I included my step-by-step process in a video.

Mixed media cards can seem a little intimidating but if you break it down into layers, it's really a lot of fun. It's a time to just play with products and always ask yourself "what if I did this?" while creating and then act on that question! Trust me, I was so hesitant to start cards like this but I'm getting more comfortable and finding out what works for me and maybe it will work for you.
Now remember...layers. My first layer of the card is creating the background. I stamped the new Large Distressed Background Cling onto Deluxe White cardstock using Soft Granite ink with a rubber brayer. This softens the color a bit.
I added another subtle layer to this background using the Calligraphy Bold Prints and Soft Granite ink. I just stamped it randomly by hand, onto the background, no stamping tool needed! Just go with it.
Once this is dry, I can use the Cobblestone Stencil and apply embossing ink through the stencil with a foam blending tool. I don't cover the whole stencil, just in a couple spots.
I then sprinkle on the Brick Embossing Powder and heat set. When I first saw a picture of this embossing powder, I thought it was sparkly. But it's not. It's those fine granules of white mixed in and gives it such an amazing look.
Since I have a lot of work into the background, I don't want to cover it up too much so I'm using small die cuts. These are from the Envelope Accessories set that I die cut out with my Compact Cutter .
I added hints of gold to the butterfly wings using some of the fabulous new Hero Wax , simply applying it with my finger.
I'm also keeping my sentiment small; I just love small sentiment strips. I'm using one from the Sending Love Mail set stamped in Unicorn ink, heat embossed with white embossing powder and cut out with the banner from Bouquet Accessories .
The leaves and butterfly I attached together with Precision Liquid Glue . Then I added the sentiment and die-cut grouping to the front of the card with foam squares and my tweezers .
My finishing touch is using the new Gold Hero Pearls . Sometimes, it's all in the details.
