October My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway!

Welcome to Day 2 of our Countdown to Creativity, leading up to the launch of our October My Monthly Hero kit on Monday, October 3 at 1pm eastern! Today we are showing how you can combine the optional add-ons with the kit’s contents, or use them on their own! In this post, Jayne introduces us to an adorable, animal-themed optional add-on to the kit!

If you love woodland animals or backyard critters, you are going to absolutely adore the add-on stamp set CM120 Winter Time Fun. The set includes a delightful variety of small animals and winter images – it is cuteness times ten! Plus, there are also matching dies available for this fun set. Best of all, these images work perfectly with the snow globe stamps and dies in the October My Monthly Hero kit.

I started my design by stamping, die cutting, and assembling a snow globe. I cut the globe from green cardstock and then misted it heavily with white spray to create the illusion of falling snow. Then, I layered the sprayed panel over a circular piece of acetate to create the appearance of a glass globe. I also added a small snowdrift and a wooden base that I stamped and die cut with items in the monthly kit.

I used foam adhesive to secure the snow globe to a panel of pine layering paper that I embossed with several snowflakes and a beautiful sentiment from the Winter Time Fun add-on set. Then, I stamped and die cut four animals and a mailbox from the same set. I inked each of the images with markers but watercolors or colored pencils would work equally well. For extra dimension, I added several layers of die cut shapes below the fox and the raccoon. To finish the card, I taped the panel to a candy stripe card base and added two additional snowflakes, a trio of gems, and a red twine bow.
