Over the years, I've found that adding handmade tags to simple baked gifts makes them extra special for the recipients. So today, I’m sharing layered gift tags made with the new Treat Tags Stamp & Cut XL set. This delicious set includes three baking themed tag dies and twenty-three sentiments that fit perfectly on the apron, cookie and oven mitt shapes. Paired with a tasty treat, these tags are sure to bring big smiles.
To make these layered tags, I started by die-cutting three tags with the Tag Infinity Dies from Amethyst, Bermuda, and Lavender cardstock. These tags will be the bottom layer of each layered tag. I added Dove White and Amethyst stripes to the tags that I die cut using one of the strip dies in the Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL set. After securing the strips to each tag with Precision Glue, I used scissors to trim any excess from the edges.
To create the second or middle layer, I die cut three smaller tags with the Tag Infinity Dies from Amethyst, Bermuda, and Canary cardstock. Then, inspired by these beautiful tags created by Michelle Short, I embellished each of these tags with a die cut kitchen tool using the new Kitchen Tools Fancy Dies. I simply die cut the tools from Dove White cardstock and then glued them to each tag. For a few tools, I die cut them a second time from tan paper from the Colors of Earth paper pack, trimmed the tan handles and then glued the handles onto the white tools. I secured these tags to the striped tags with foam tape, making sure to align the small holes.
To create the top tag layers, I used the Treat Tags Stamp & Cut XL set to cut three adorable baking shaped tags - a cookie, an oven mitt and an apron. For the cookie tag, I added a circle of Canary cardstock that I die cut with the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies. For the oven mitt, I die cut a second mitt from a darker cardstock and then cut and glued the decorative edge to the mitt. For the apron tag, I similarly cut and glued a darker heart to the apron.
Before stamping a sentiment onto each tag with Intens-ified Black ink, I shaded the edges of the tags with Grape Slush, Lemon Drop, or Pool Party ink. I also used a colored pencil to shade the spaces in the uppercase letters of each message. I secured each shaped tag to one of the previously layered tags with foam tape and then finished each tag with a single enamel dot and a length of black twine.
