CommUNITY: Inspiration from Carrie Triner

Hi friends! Today we are here with an installment of our monthly series, CommUNITY, where we share artwork from artists who we'd love for you to get to know. CommUNITY is about embracing and honoring the creativity of individuals who are often underrepresented. By sharing art from a diverse group of creators, we hope to not only bring inspiration to this papercrafting community we all love so much, but also support and empower individuals to be their authentic selves as they create and share. Look for a new CommUNITY guest artist right here on the blog each month. Today our talented guest is Carrie Triner!

I am Carrie Triner and I am 61 years young. I’ve been married to my soulmate for 41.5 years, am a mother to 9 and grandmother to some beautiful souls. I’ve been crafting and sewing for most of my life and I also love gardening, cooking, baking and coloring with my Copic markers!

I start out by finding something I want to color, decide on who I am making the card for and create with that person in mind. I am inspired everyday to color and create cards to keep my mom’s memory alive as she is the reason I color daily.

The Hero Arts Better Together stamp set is a great way to show a sisterhood in creating. This stamp set is perfect in so many ways. Coloring this image and placing it onto a clean and simple textured background truly makes the image pop. The open area of the image allows me to get creative with their clothing. Remember you can use more than one sentiment from a stamp set. Die cut them out and sprinkle them around your image.

For the next card, I paired the Better Together Stamp set with the Empowerment stamp set. By lining up the sentiments, I was able to create a beautiful background for my colored image. To add some fun texture, I used an embossing folder once I stamped out the sentiments. The simple black and white background looks great on its own. Once paired with the colored Better Together stamp set, this card is stunning!

And I have one more bonus card to share today using the United People Bold Prints cling stamp:

Carrie, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cards and talent with us today! You can find more of Carrie's amazing work over on Instagram.
