Butterfly Confetti Fancy Die, Two Ways!

Good morning! Jess here with a pair of cards showing two very different ways to use the Butterfly Confetti Fancy Die that was an add-on to the July My Monthly Hero kit. I decided to use the butterflies that are cut from the die rather than the actual die-cut panel (though I did reserve those for a future card)!

It’s never good to need a sympathy card but I like to try to keep a couple on hand so that they’re ready when I need them. Over the years I’ve found that those are the one type of card that I’m really unable to creatively make on command…I’m better off keeping them in reserves. So for my first card I went for a very monochromatic look with just touches of gold.

To start I die-cut the Butterfly Confetti Fancy die from Snow Layering Paper and vellum.  Then I used a Versamark pen to draw thin strokes on some of the white and vellum butterflies before heat-embossing them with Gold Embossing Powder. I arranged them across a Snow Folded Card and used Press ‘n Seal to pick up the arrangement. I let that sit for a minute while I worked on the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment from Prayers Stamp & Cut with Versamark and heat-embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder. Then I die-cut the word ‘prayer’ from white cardstock, pressed a Versamark pad over it, heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder, and adhered it to the card panel. Next I turned the Press ‘n Seal over and added liquid adhesive to the back of each butterfly. I turned the Press ‘n Seal over and arranged it over my card front. Then I pressed the butterflies down and let the liquid adhesive set for a few minutes before I peeled off the Press ‘n Seal. Finally I popped up some of the butterfly wings with a little foam mounting tape and added a little Spectrum Noir clear sparkle to the vellum wings.

(I apologize for the not great photo quality of the close-up…I was trying to show the sparkle on the wings as well as the dimension in the card and my camera was just not happy with me. Ha!)

Then I wanted to cheer myself up so I decided to create a bright rainbow card.

I started by blending hybrid Bold Inks onto a piece of Snow Layering Paper. I used Strawberry, Tangerine, Dandelion, Green Apple, Summer Sky, and Orchid hybrid inks and a blending tool. Then I die-cut the panel with the Butterfly Confetti Fancy Die.  I arranged the butterflies over a Snow Folded Card and again used Press ‘n Seal to pick up the arrangement. I added liquid adhesive to the back of each butterfly and then pressed the arrangement over my card panel and let the adhesive set. Once it was set I peeled off the Press ‘n Seal. I stamped part of my sentiment from Hello Stamp & Cut onto black cardstock and heat-embossed it with White Embossing Powder. Then I die-cut the word ‘hello’ from white cardstock, pressed a Versamark pad over it, and heat-embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. I adhered them both to my card and then added a little Spectrum Noir clear sparkle to some of my butterflies to finish the card!
