Video: Black & White - Anything But Boring!

Hi friends! I'm here today with a super fun black and white card for you featuring the stunning Lighthouse & Sailboat Cover Plate Die.

I'll keep the doodled detail a secret until you watch the video, but I first cut the die with Pitch Black cardsotck. The frame it cuts gives you SO many possibilities – I'm sure you saw beautiful colored versions on release day, and I'll show you some options with this background in the video as well. And remember, every time you are paper piecing a die like this with two or more different materials, that means you have two or more complete cards you can make with the leftovers! This is one of my fave features of piecing dies – they are truly zero waste dies.

Here's my finished card, and wait until you see how easy it is. It's so beautiful and graphic, I didn't want to cover any of it up with a sentiment, so it's an all-occasion card. I think it would be a fantastic Father's Day or dad birthday card.

A few tips for making work like this easier, which you will see in the video:

  • Use Precision Glue when piecing rather than a tape runner – you need the wiggle room.
  • Use your MISTI sticky mat to hold the whole die cut scene together until you are ready to piece. This makes it go so much faster when you aren't chasing down odd little shapes on your desk.
  • Use the Reverse Grip Tweezers to release the small die cut pieces onto the Sticky Mat.

Here is the video, or you can watch it here in HD on YouTube.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
