August My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway!

Hello! We are back with another Countdown to Creativity post before launching our August My Monthly Hero Kit and add-ons on Monday, August 7th, at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We’ll be giving away one kit on Monday morning, before the kit launches, so be sure to comment on every countdown post! Now join Yana as she shares a card made using this month kit and add-on stamps.

They say watercolor galaxies are all the rage right now and, honestly, I couldn’t agree more. Hero’s August kit and the add-ons, I think, are ideal for trying your hand at creating little watercolor skies and universes.

I love You To The Moon & Back Card by Yana Smakula for Hero Arts

I started working on this card by heat embossing a surface of a distant planet (or it could be a moon) and a number of stars onto Distress Watercolor paper using Gold embossing powder. Next, I colored the background using watercolors and added flicks on water to lighten up some of the sections.

I stamped a boy sitting on a moon onto my background in Black and stamped an identical image in Navy ink onto white cardstock, cut out using coordinating die and foam mounted over the original impression. Next, I heat embossed and colored planets and a star. I tucked them behind the boy to make it look as if they were far in the distance and foam mounted the star at the end of the string.

Finally, I stamped “I Love You” next to one of the planets and heat embossed “To The Moon & Back” in white powder onto a black cardstock strip and foam mounted it onto the bottom part of my background. I added a layer of black cardstock to help frame the piece and adhered it onto an A2 card base.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, August 7th, before the kit launches at 1pm eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to check back later today for one additional countdown post with more inspiration and more sneak peeks!

Have fun stamping!
