August My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway!

MMH Countdown to Creativity

Welcome to Day 2 of our countdown, leading up to the release of the August My Monthly Hero kit on Monday, August 1st at 1pm eastern/10am pacific! If you love Shakespeare quotes as much as we do, the optional add-on stamp set that Yana is featuring this morning is going to be a must-have addition to your stamp collection!

Hero Arts August 2016 My Monthly Hero Kit is full of wonder and magic! I can't get enough of the stunning frame dies included in both main kit and one of the add-ons; they are perfect to make little whimsical projects.

I have two cards to share today both using frame dies. I only used the inner die from each set and skipped using the outer oval to be able to die cut a design in the front panel of my cards. If you combine the two dies together you are able to die cut and actual oval-shaped frame for your project. Here's a closer look at the card with the night sky.

I first die cut the design using the optional add-on die Floral Border with Frame Fancy Die in a panel of purple cardstock. Using the frame I determined where I wanted to place the rest of the elements on this card and I stamped and heat embossed several clouds and a beautiful sentiment from the Dreams Are Made add-on clear set in hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="white embossing powder"] onto a piece of hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white cardstock"].

I blended several colors of Distress ink and added water to create a dreamy night sky in the background. I adhered this heat embossed and ink blended panel onto an A2 top folding card base and foam mounted the die cut frame panel on top.

I used several sequins from my stash and adhered them here and there to embellish this project. I also added several clear droplets inside some of the larger sequins for additional interest.

The second card was done in a similar manner, but I kept the background much simpler and only heat embossed a sentiment onto dark purple cardstock. The frame that's included in this month's kit was die cut out of beautiful white woodgrain cardstock and everything was adhered onto a lilac card base made out of hero_product_link sku="PS619" text="Floral Mix Layering papers"].

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, August 1, before the kit launches at 1pm eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!
